About the British Type 42/Sheffield
Class
The only time in history when two warships of the
same class have fought each other was in the Falklands War when the
United Kingdom and Argentina came to blows in 1982. The warships in
question were from the British Type 42, or Sheffield Class. The
Type 42 is a guided missile destroyer designed for the Royal Navy
in the 1960s to provide fleet area air-defense. A total of fourteen
destroyers were constructed in three batches, with the lengthened
Batch Three vessels.
