Therefore, an alternative was needed by Germany, and the chassis of the Czech-built Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) was selected. The result was the Aufklarungspanzer 38(t), which featured a 2cm KwK 38 gun mounted in a Hangelafette ("swivel mounting") turret. (Incidentally, this is the same turret as mounted on the Sd.Kfz. 250/9, 251/23 and 234/1).
